How Gold Country Food Hub Works
Our Wholesale Market is based on a distributed regional food hub model. We market, sell, aggregate, store, process and distribute fresh, healthy food from local and regional producers to wholesale, retail and institutional buyers. Our focus is connecting local farms, community and markets through coordination, education and partnerships.
1. Local Farmers Grow the Food
Producers throughout Placer, Nevada, and El Dorado Counties produce high-quality vegetables, fruits, meats, eggs, and specialty goods.
2. We Connect Farms With Buyers
We help farmers reach new markets including schools, food banks, community benefit organizations and institutional buyers. We streamline communication and operations, providing efficient sales and fulfillment.
3. We Support Farmers With Resources
Through our Technical Assistance program, we've created an online small-scale Food Producer Resource Hub using human expertise and technology to help farmers build capacity and resiliency in their farm businesses. This tool will be launching in early 2026.
4. We Supply Food Access Programs
Our programs support food-insecure households by partnering with local agencies to supply fresh, healthy, locally produced food to those who need it.
5. We Educate the Community
Through classes, workshops, farm tours and advocacy, we help our local community understand where healthy food comes from, how it is produced and ways to support a resilient local food economy.
6. Farmers and Community Thrive
Strengthening local supply chains brings stability, fair pricing and sustainability to the entire region.
